PT Bio Inti Agrindo Receives CSR and Plasma Partnership Award

Merauke, July 19, 2024 – PT Bio Inti Agrindo (PT BIA) has been honored with a prestigious award in the fields of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Plasma Partnership Program. This award recognizes the company's contributions and commitment to improving the welfare of local communities and advancing the palm oil plantation sector sustainably.
The CSR and Plasma award was presented by Acting Governor of South Papua, Apolo Safanpo, event held at the Swiss-Belhotel Merauke. In his speech, Mr. Apolo Safanpo commended company’s efforts in implementing programs that have a positive impact on local communities and the environment. This event also coincided with the launch of an integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (Si-CSR) application, which allows public access to CSR information.
The event was attended by Acting Governor of South Papua Apolo Safanpo, Head of the South Papua Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) Petrus Assem, Chairman of MRPS, members of MRP, and several Heads of Regional Device Organizations (OPD).
Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility by PT Bio Inti Agrindo
As part of its CSR commitment, PT Bio Inti Agrindo has launched various initiatives focusing on community empowerment, educational improvement, and environmental conservation. These programs include:
- Education and Training: Since 2012, PT BIA has provided scholarships to the community, especially Indigenous Papuans (OAP), and has offered intensive training and mentoring programs for communities in the villages of Selil, Kindiki, and Muting. The technical, financial, and marketing training programs, accompanied by experienced mentors for 12 months, aim to enhance the skills of the village communities, boost local economic growth, and prepare the next generation.
- Healthcare: PT BIA regularly conducts health activities such as free medical check-ups, POSYANDU, accredited clinic services, and healthy living campaigns for the surrounding communities. Additionally, PT BIA organizes a Supplemental Feeding (PMT) program for the communities of Pachas, Kindiki, and Muting, identified as having nutritional deficiencies. These activities are monitored by company doctors and local health centers.
- Environment: The company implement environmental conservation programs by planting mangrove trees along the Payau beach and preserving forests around its operational areas.
Plasma Partnership Program
PT Bio Inti Agrindo is also actively involved in the Plasma Partnership Program, an initiative aimed at improving the welfare of small farmers through mutually beneficial partnerships. In South Papua, PT BIA is the first company to grant 100% of Plasma land to the community, evidenced by the legal HGU in the name of their cooperatives. This program includes:
- Guidance and Training: PT BIA provides technical assistance and training to plasma farmers to enhance productivity and crop quality. Last year, PT BIA also supported a comparative study of plasma plantations in Sumatra.
- Market and Capital Access: PT BIA assists plasma farmers in accessing sustainable markets and obtaining capital through ISPO and RSPO certifications.
