In the spirit of improving the lives of the communities around our area of operations, PT BIA launched the plasma scheme on August 20, 2021. Under the plasma scheme, we allocated 6,867 ha of land to be managed by local smallholders. Today, these plasma plantations form an integral part of our supply base.
Our plasma plantation team is made up of our fully trained staff and associated smallholders from the local communities. This model was chosen to ensure the proper running of these plantations and to facilitate capacity building among the smallholders through trainings.
In addition to training, we also provide plantation development & maintenance assistance and guidance to our plasma smallholders. This includes the implementation of sustainable and good agricultural practices (GAP) in line with our commitment to maintaining thoroughly sustainable operations.
