Economic Programs
Through our operations and specialized development programs, we are committed to reducing poverty and improving the well-being of local communities in Merauke. We contribute to building essential public infrastructure such as roads, housing, places of worship, and community halls to enhance accessibility and create more economic opportunities. Our economic program focuses on improving market access for local artisans. We help promote noken, traditional woven bags from Papua, to various regions in Indonesia and international markets. All proceeds from the sales are given to the Papuan women artisans and their families who weave these crafts.
In addition, this economic program includes initiatives for creating alternative livelihoods and expanding market access. We assist local communities in producing salted fish, VCO (virgin coconut oil), and growing vegetables in home gardens, which can be sold or consumed for daily needs. So far, we have also supported the establishment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMK) in three local villages: Kindiki, Selil, and Muting.
