Aksi Peduli PT.BIA Melawan COVID-19 untuk Papua

Kabupaten Merauke, Papua melalui Bupatinya Bpk Frederikus Gebze telah terima donasi berupa 680 pcs alat rapid test dari PT.Bio Inti Agrindo (PT.BIA) & POSCO International guna membantu mencegah dan menanggulangi Wabah COVID-19 di Indonesia khususnya Indonesia Bagian Timur.

Donasi berupa rapid test hari ini, Rabu 13 May 2020 diserahkan kepada satuan gugus tugas COVID-19 untuk selanjutnya didistribusikan kepada RSUD Merauke, RS Angkatan Laut dan RS Bunda Pengharapan.

Selain rapid test, PT.BIA juga akan memberikan donasi berupa 20.000 masker yang akan dikirimkan bertahap karena masih dalam proses logistics dari Jakarta ke Merauke.

340 pcs alat rapid test juga diberikan kepada Klinik PT.BIA yang berlokasi di Distrik Ulilin dibawah pimpinan Dokter Wawang Tirtana, agar dapat di manfaatkan oleh masyarakat yang berada jauh dari Kota Merauke. Total keselurahan Rapid Test yang digelontorkan untuk wilayah Merauke yakni 1.020 pcs

Dokter Wawang berpendapat “dalam memerangi COVID-19 kita semua perlu bekerjasama tidak hanya pemerintah, pihak swasta dan masyarakat juga harus berusaha memutus mata rantai ini “

Presdir PT.BIA menambahkan selain mengikuti protocol Kesehatan yang telah dibuat oleh pemerintah, pihaknya juga melakukan sosialisasi gaya hidup bersih kepada seluruh karyawannya dan menerapkan karantina mandiri bagi siapa saja yang akan memasuki areal kerja perkebunan sawit PT.BIA hal itu semata-mata untuk memutus mata rantai penularan COVID-19.

Frederikus Gebze menyampaikan rasa terima kasih atas kepedulian dan donasi PT.BIA dan Juga Group POSCO International yang di Korea, kami juga memeberikan apresiasi kepada Perusahaan karena aksi aksi yang telah dilakukan adalah salah satu Upaya membantu pemerintah dalam memutus mata rantai dan penanggulangan wabah ini. Kami semua berharap wabah COVID-19 ini dapat segera berlalu khususnya di Indonesia.

Acara penyerahan donasi ini dilakukan di Sekretariat Gugus tugas COVID-19 Kantor Bupati Kabupaten Merauke dan diterima secara simbolis oleh Bupati Kabupaten Merauke Bpk. Frederikus Gebze SE, MSI disaksikan oleh Sekretaris Daerah Bpk Daniel Pauta, Asisten 3 Bpk Yacobus Duwiri, Perwakilan Gugus Tugas COVID-19, Direktur Utama PT.BIA Bp. Kong Byoung sun dan juga beberapa orang Perwakilan dari PT.BIA

Aksi ini dilakukan sebagai upaya untuk melandaikan kurva COVID-19 seriring sejalan dengan tanggung jawab sosial POSCO INTERNATIONAL sebagai ‘Global Corporate Citizen’

2020.02.12PT BIA received complaints from the Bentala Pusaka Foundation regarding the demolition of a sacred site of Yawantop, the Indigenous peoples of Malind and Wambon Tekamerop. Allegedely, the Company had destroyed sacred site used to perform traditional rituals. A field verification was immediately carried out and it was discovered that the area in question was a category HCV 4 area which according to the testimony of the Basik-Basik clan, was a natural well of 0.2 ha
2020.02.20Public consultations related to the clarification and rehabilitation of high conservation value areas have been carried out with LMA, indigenous communties, and local NGOs with the consultations also being attended by local governments bringing the total attendance to 66 people.
2020.03..12A traditional ceremony has been held between the clans involved, the company and also the local community. Followed by rehabilitation (replanting) with the plants requested by the clan on April 4, 2020.
2020.04.04At present, the Case has been listed as Resolved and continues to be monitored by the HCV team who also collaborates with the VMT (Village Monitoring Team) that has been formed comprised of members of the indigenous community itself.

The KNCP published its Final Statement on January 13, 2022. The statement indicated that KNCP did not accept the complainants' claim, but recommended that POSCO International should continue with its current efforts to implement active environmental and social policies and communicate with stakeholders in the future. In response, POSCO International submitted a performance report to KNCP on July 29, 2022, detailing the progress of their ESG activities, including the implementation of the NDPE policy in accordance with the recommendations.
